M2HB

This course is designed to expand your operational capabilities and manipulation skills with the M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun.

  • Learn safe and proper handling of the .50 caliber machine gun, its characteristics, and its operational and employment capabilities.
  • Assembly, disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, function check and maintenance will also be performed. Learn to properly identify and replace worn or broken parts.
  • We will discuss the proper use and assembly of the M3 tripod and available mounting systems.
  • The various types of ammunition will be covered. We will discuss their operational applications and limitations as well as the dynamics and advantages of specialty munitions to include: trajectory, internal, external, and terminal ballistics.
  • Fine tune your loading and unloading skills, immediate and remedial action procedures and your ability to identify and distinguish various malfunctions and stoppages. You will learn the cause of these malfunctions and to correct and prevent them.
  • Learn the proper procedures for headspace and timing on the M2 .50 caliber machine gun and understand how each effects the operation of the weapon. Additionally, you will learn how and when to replace the barrel of the M2HB machine gun.
  • Learn to handle the weapons system under stress with extreme confidence while performing various live-fire techniques in order to deliver accurate, intense, and decisive firepower on hard targets.
  • Students will learn range estimation and understand sighting-in procedures utilizing the traverse and elevation mechanism (T&E).
  • Accessories will be discussed: various types of training aids, optics, and proper installation of the blank firing adapter.
  • An optional third day of training will encompass waterborne or vehicle operations. Learn proper transportation and stowage techniques as well as various live fire exercises.

NOTE: Courses are objective based and limited only by available assets.
