US Navy Crew Served Weapons

CSW Ops and Maintenance

Topics covered in this course include weapon and ammunition safety, disassembly and assembly, maintenance and cycle of operation, headspace and timing, malfunctions and stoppages, zeroing, ammunition, and accessories and mounts, for the M240, MK43, M2HB, and MK19 machine guns.  In addition,  the fundamentals of night vision electro optics (NVEO) are covered.  Each topic covers knowledge requirements, followed by performance skills attainment, testing, and skill reinforcement. This course is a pre-requisite for the CSW Instructor course.

CSW Instructor

This is an NEC 0814 producing course.

Topics include the following subjects: General Range Safety, Crew Served Weapons (CSW) Fundamentals, CSW Employment and Tactical Employment, Teaching Machine Gun Fundamentals, Conducting Machine Gun Drills, Planning Considerations for Developing PPRs, Range Operations and Management, Operational Risk Management (ORM), Employment of Warning Shots, and Threat Engagement Zones.  Students will demonstrate proficiency in the above subjects through written testing,  weapon simulator,  live fire, and blank fire teachback applications with the MK43, M240, and M2HB Crew Served Weapons.

CSW Enrollment/ Access

Registration is preferred, but students may show up to the learning sites the first day of class to obtain a course seat on Stand By consideration based on the number of vacancies/ no shows.
